Ms. Libby Davies (Vancouver East, NDP): Mr. Speaker, 37 women's centres in B.C. are facing closure because of a decision by the B.C. Liberal government to eliminate 100% of their funding.
Ms. Libby Davies (Vancouver East, NDP): Mr. Speaker, the leader of the Canadian Alliance led off today on his motion by claiming that this issue of same sex marriage is not about human rights. That is how he started his debate today.
Ms. Libby Davies (Vancouver East, NDP): Mr. Speaker, the historic B.C. Appeal Court decision yesterday on same sex marriage is a victory for equality in Canada. It's also further evidence that the waffling and denial of equality for gays and lesbians by the government is unconscionable and unacceptable.
