Typhoon Haiyan

Dear Friends,

I have been deeply affected by seeing the devastation in Phillipines from Typhoon Haiyan.  My NDP colleagues and I extend our sincere sympathies to those affected by the Typhoon.  You can find our Foreign Affairs Critic's full response below.

Amongst all the sadness, I am inspired by the efforts of our community to help those in need.  Students and staff at St. Patrick's Secondary School are already raising money and today you can stop by the Laughing Bean, whose whole day profits will be going to Typhoon relief: http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2013/11/east-vancouver-coffee-shop-to-give-da... Twenty-three community centres across Vancouver will also be accepting donations on behalf of the Red Cross.  To find a location near you, go to:http://vancouver.ca/news-calendar/park-board-partners-with-red-cross-to-....

I once again applaud our East Van residents for coming together to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

Sincerely,

Libby

STATEMENT BY NDP FOREIGN AFFAIRS CRITIC PAUL DEWAR ON TYPHOON HAIYAN

On behalf of Canada’s New Democrats, I extend sincere sympathies to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

As this storm batters the Philippines, our thoughts are with those who are directly in its path, as well as with their friends and loved ones in Canada who are worried about their safety.

We hope that in the coming days and months, as the Filipino people cope with the aftermath of this disaster, the international community will pull together to provide the assistance needed.
