C-263: An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act (Social Condition): This enactment amends the Canadian Human Rights Act to prohibit discrimination on the grounds of social condition. In doing so, it protects from discrimination people who are experiencing social or economic disadvantage on the basis of their source of income, occupation, level of education, poverty, lack of adequate housing, homelessness or any other similar circumstance.

C-264: An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (Social Condition): This enactment amends the provisions of the Criminal Code that establish principles related to sentencing and describe the aggravating circumstances that require increased sentences to be imposed. The enactment requires an increased sentence where there is evidence that the offence was motivated by bias, prejudice or hate based on the social condition of the victim. It strives to protect people experiencing social or economic disadvantage on the basis of their source of income, occupation, level of education, poverty, lack of adequate housing, homelessness or any other similar circumstance.

C-295: An Act to Amend the Canada Pension Plan (designation of survivor): This enactment amends the Canada Pension Plan to allow a contributor to designate as the beneficiary of their survivor pension someone who is not their spouse or common-law partner.

C-296: An Act to amend the Hazardous Products Act and the Textile Labelling Act (animal fur or skin): This enactment amends the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act to add products made in whole or in part of dog or cat fur to Schedule 2 to that Act. The enactment also amends the Textile Labelling Act so that the definition “consumer textile article” includes any product made in whole or in part of animal skin from which the hair or fur has not been removed.

C-374: An Act to amend the Bills of Exchange Act (rights of bill holders): This enactment amends the Bills of Exchange Act to make the rights of a bill holder subject to a defence or right of set-off held by a purchaser in respect of an action by the seller. The purpose of the enactment is to prevent the cashing of cheques by a cheque-cashing business where a cheque has been cancelled by the person who wrote the cheque.

C-445: An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act (genetic characteristics): This enactment amends the Canadian Human Rights Act to add genetic characteristics as a prohibited ground of discrimination.

C-460: An Act respecting the implementation of the Sodium Reduction Strategy for Canada: The purpose of this enactment is to implement the Sodium Reduction Strategy for Canada.

C-545: An Act respecting the provision of continuing care to Canadians: This enactment requires the Minister of Health to create an advisory committee for the purpose of establishing common standards applicable to the delivery of continuing care services and provides for the Government of Canada to pay a cash contribution in respect of the delivery of such services to each province and territory in accordance with criteria established by the committee.  It also requires the Minister to conduct a national assessment of the needs of Canadians in terms of continuing care services.
