Today I had the honour of seconding my NDP colleague Craig Scott’s (Toronto-Danforth) Bill C-448. This bill would repeal the an outdated provision of the Criminal Code
that unconstitutionally discriminates against members of the LGBTQ community. Essentially the goal is to repeal section 159 of the Criminal Code, which discriminates against the gay community with regard to sexual activity and the age of consent. Curently the age of consent for youth engaging in gay sex is aged 18, while it is age 16 for other sexual activities. LGBTQ groups have asked for years to have this section of the Criminal Code repealed and several provincial courts have ruled it discriminatory and unconstitutional.

I hope you will join me in supporting this bill.
