Fast forward almost 40 years to 2022, to a Global TV interview with Squire Barnes, marking this history and the remaining NWFZ signs still evident in Vancouver today. Besides the sign noted in the story – I know of one other sign – as you enter Vancouver off the Ironworks Memorial Bridge just before New Brighton park. There might still be one on East 1st Ave too, as you leave the hiway and enter the city of Vancouver. Back in the day every major street into Vancouver had such a sign. And then there was the swimming around a warship event…. Check it out in the same story !
