Food for Thought – New Democrats continue their cross-country tour on Food Security
VANCOUVER – Libby Davies (MP, Vancouver East), and Bill Siksay (MP, Burnaby Douglas) will co-host a public forum as part of the New Democrat’s national campaign to gather input towards the development of a national food policy.
This initiative is in response to the many families from across Canada who have written to express their concerns about Canada’s food production system in today’s uncertain world. Worries about climate change, rising oil and gas prices, escalating food prices, genetically modified seeds and trees, global unrest from food shortages and the competition between crops grown for food and biofuel production are leading to a general understanding that we cannot take things for granted when it comes to food sovereignty and security.
